Hi Joyce! Its so great to have you on my blog(s) - could you tell me a bit about yourself? Thanks for having me here, Kai :-) I am a writer, sometimes photographer, advocate–and a whole host of other titles. While I’ve had numerous articles published, Storm is my first full-length novel.
1) What was your favorite part of writing ‘Storm’?
My favorite part was all the surprises. Usually writing non-fiction, I’m not used to characters just popping in when they feel like it :-) The skeleton in the outhouse really surprised me and Maggie was the best surprise of the whole book.

Rejections leave most writers bummed becuase they’ve hoped that their work is going to pass through the sea of red penning relatively unscathed.
So rejections sting.
There is something worse though….
Recently, I spent a short stint editing for a mid sized house - I vollunteered to do so on the recommendation of another freind, and I enjoyed it, till around three days before I finished up with them.
Rejecting work isn’t a great thing for anyone to do - especially if you’re an author going through the same process yourself. Its not about spite, or nastiness - its about knowing what can and can’t sell - and where things can be tightened.
Imagine my surprise then, when I recieved a ‘nastygram’ about something I’d rejected. I was accused of being “elitist, snobby and a ‘lowly can’t even graduate from a basic GED’ reader, so of course I wouldn’t recognise greatness if it bit […]
